Hi there Braaap Cruiser owner and Welcome to the braaap family!!
Today we have Allocated the VIN Number & Engine number for your new bike, this means by now you would have either received the bike or it is on its way to you which is awesome news! We appreciate you choosing braaap and waiting for your bike. We are stoked that you are finally ready to ride! Please send us those new bike day pics!
Please watch the video on how to start your bike and first ride checks.
Important information
1. VIN Number:
Once you receive your motorcycle please confirm the Vin number which is a 17 digit identification number stamped down the righthand side of the neck of your motorbike (from the direction of sitting on the seat.) Please make sure the VIN number on your new bike matches the VIN number on your Proof of Purchase paper work. If the VIN number on the bike does not match the VIN number on your paperwork, please get in contact with us here
2. Compliance Sticker:
Please ensure you can see the compliance plate is attached to the frame of your motorcycle, it is a glossy white sticker, usually attached to the left hand side of the motorcycle frame by the foot peg. Ensure to never remove this as it is vital to you registering your new bike in Australia.
3. Running your bike in:
You have received a brand new motorcycle. It's very important that you run in the new engine. We recommend you do not rev your motorbike over 7000rpm for the first 500km. You will see the rev counter on the dashboard of your motorcycle.
4. Tyre Health:
The tyres are brand new and need bedding in. The tyres arrive with a type of wax on them, applied to the tyre during manufacturing to keep protect the tread. This wax product will make the tyres feel slippery for the first 50-100km. To prevent slide offs please ride with caution for those first few KMs.
Three top tips you should learn to do to maintain good health of your bike between services:
1. Your Chain:
Chain health is vital for your safety. Please ensure that the chain is ALWAYS firm but not tight. This video shows how to determine if you chain is firm (current version in ST250 only. More models coming soon! Principal the same) Ensure you lubricate your chain every 500km (never put the lube on the chain near the back of the bike as that where the brakes are. We recommend you lube the chain where you can see it in the middle of your bike)
2. Tyre Pressure:
Tyre pressure is vital for your safety. We recommend you check both tyres every time you fill up with fuel UNTIL you know your bike fully and can tell by riding if the tyres need air. 33 PSI for the front and 36 PSI for the rear.
3. Bike services:
Regularly servicing your bike is vital for your safety and the longevity of your bike. The first service is a very important service. Your bike will be fully looked over to make sure everything is in good order. First service between 500-800km then every 3000km.
